You don't say...

Today was my first day at a my new work location (same job, different location).  After work, I was walking out of the building to make the 4 block walk to my car, I got hit up by some guy asking for money, and when I said, "sorry no" and crossed the street, he yelled something back at me from the other side of the street.

Awesome.

Welcome to downtown Atlanta.  I can check getting harassed by a panhandler off of my list.  Next up on my list is "having my car broken into".  That'll be sweet!

April 1, 2008 - So funny! (not)

I've suddenly decided that I hate April Fool's Day, if for no other reason than this year the whole "let's put up a joke and try to call it serious news" seems to have infected every last corner of the Internet.  Seriously, part of the humor and wit of the April Fool's Day joke was that it was unexpected, and if you're just following the pack along with everyone else, it's easy to just look stupid.

I'll end my grumpy old man rant now...

He cares about yards too

Had a kickin dream last night, where Pat Buchannan hired someone to come and mow my lawn, because it was driving down the home prices of the neighborhood. The man mowing told me that Buchannan did that a lot, and most of the time the home owner's were consultants, since they traveled too much to properly take care of the yard.

Sometimes I wonder what goes on in my subconscious...

Water cooler talk

The people that I work with seem to live and breath TV in their free time, at least it looks that way.  That's all that they talk about with one another.  It really makes you think what people talked about before the proliferation of TV and radio...?

Still on a holiday schedule

Yesterday was my first day back at work after 3 weeks of vacation. I got home ~6:00 PM, read until about 6:30, and then slept until 9:00. Then I was up until 2:00. Needless to say, my internal clock is all messed up.

This blog entry is dedicated to Wanzer, who gets great pleasure in detailing days-and-days worth of his life online...

The changing face of television

From Ars Technica. FOX and Fx are following ABC's path, and jumping into the downloadable television programs on a pay-per-download basis. The going rate seems to $.99 a show, but Fox is also offering pre-broadcast downloads too--that is, you'll be able to (for $2.99) download and watch a program before it actually airs.

Things I hate about the "Holiday" season

Richard Rodriguez had a good essay on the NewsHour complaining about Christmas music. That got me thinking about things that I hate about the "Holiday" season.
