After many false starts with Atlanta's Small Dog Rescue and Humane Society, everything finally worked out, and on Sunday, I adopted a litte Bichon named Burton. He weighs 15 lbs, is about 2 years old, and full of it. Not having been around a young dog in a while, I forgot just how much energy they have. Every day that goes by he gets a little more acclimated to his new home--two days ago he became vocal (barking when he needed something or when we played), and just this morning he did the "Bichon Tear" and ran like crazy through the house. There are still a few times where he gets intimidated and ducks his head and tail, but those are becoming less and less. He jumped up on the bed too, which totally surprised me, since it's been a good 7 years since I've seen Beegee do that. It's also a little sad that he's so skinny, you can feel each vertebra on his back, but I think that was due to side affects of his neutering as well as time spent in the shelter. I'm doing my best to slowly bulk him back up.
I'm getting acclimated as well. Burton doesn't seem to like to sleep much past 7 AM, and this morning he saw fit to lick me like crazy in the face when he wanted to get up and going. For some reason I think my days of sleeping past 8 are getting to be a rare thing.

Burton
Good news for both you and Burton! Let me know when you need a baby sitter! Isn't that what great aunts do??
Da Godfather
You know the little rascal is going to need a Godfather. I'd love to have him as part of the "family." :)
